Family Visa categories:

• Partner visa: The Partner visa is available to individuals who are engaged or married to, or in a de facto relationship with an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Parent visa: Parents are eligible to visit Australia temporarily or to live permanently providing their children are living in Australia. There are many visa types available to facilitate temporary and permanent residency in Australia for parents in this situation. Each of the Parent visas have different visa application assessment criteria. Depending upon the visa, you may be eligible to work in Australia and to access Medicare support and family assistance.
• Child visa: Any child that has a relationship with an Australian resident or citizen is eligible to apply for a Child visa. The nature of the relationship can be any of the following: child, step-child, adopted child of an Australian resident or citizen or child whose parents are permanently deceased or incapacitated or any such incident and who have an eligible Australian sponsor.
• Other Family visa: Other relatives of an Australian resident or citizen who do not fall into any visa category mentioned above and who meet any one of the following scenarios may be eligible to apply for an Other Family Visa. An aged relative or an individual who relies on an Australian resident or citizen for all or most of his/her financial needs. A relative whose close relatives are all residents of Australia and he/she has more connection in Australia than in the country of his/her residency.
